Periodic physical examinations are essential to the good health and happiness of your pet. Remember, pets age approximately seven years during each human year. For your pet, two visits per year to the veterinarian equate to only one doctor or dentist visit in 3 1/2 years for a human. A thorough examination by the veterinarian can often detect diseases at an early stage, eliminate small problems before they become large ones and protect against future diseases. This is also a good time for you as a pet owner to ask questions about your pet's care and well being.

Your doctor will make recommendations regarding vaccinations and a basic blood profile may be suggested. A heartworm test and renewal of prescription heartworm preventive is always strongly recommended. A fecal exam is also a good idea to be sure the intestinal tract is free from parasites. Your Pet Vet veterinarian will examine your pet's teeth and gums and may recommend cleaning, polishing or a fluoride treatment. At Pet Vet Animal Hospitals our emphasis is on preventive care so that your pet can live a long, healthy, happy life.
