Party Poopers: When Your Pet has a Blockage

Party Poopers: When Your Pet has a Blockage

Imagine how uncomfortable you might be if your stomach wasn’t working properly and you were constipated. Your pet feels the same in the same situation.

However, your pet can’t tell you this; all she can do is try and deal with the discomfort and symptoms. Cats, dogs and other pets show there tummy issues in different ways, and each individual pet may do so differently, too. It depends on the nature of the blockage and how bad it is.

When is the last time you checked your cat’s litter box? She may be acting normal most of the time, but how does her poop appear? It should be easy for her to defecate, and her poop should fairly soft and long. So, if you look in there and see pellets that look hard or feel hard if you dare pick them up with gloves on (or a plastic bag), your cat could be having trouble. If you see this and haven’t noticed other changes, you could be catching this early. But, you need to act soon.

When your pets have trouble, it will be noticeable in other ways if you’re watching. For instance:

· Your cat may cry when trying to poop and your dog may struggle clearly

· Your dog or cat may vomit immediately after eating

· Your pets may drink excessively

· Your pet may defecate in strange places

While watching your pet for these signs isn’t pleasant, it’s a good idea to check once in a while in an effort to change problems before they start. Sometimes, simple things like changing your pet’s diet may help; there are over-the-counter products that help your pet defecate or add fiber to make it a little easier. If you think your pet may have this issue, bring her to Pet Vet Hospitals today.
